Preparing your workplace for return of employees
June 16, 2021The question now arising now will be how the new workplace will look in six or twelve months-time. Should employers move to capitalise on the remote working trend and make the switch remote work permanent, (at least for some of its staff) or will the work environment simply return to the office.
A recent study according to LinkedIn’s workforce confidence index showed that roughly half of professionals believe their companies will allow them to telecommute at least part of the time after the pandemic That percentage is even higher in industries such as tech (73%), finance (67%) and media (59%), that see flexible work as the future. This study was based on U.S figures.
Irrespective of the future working landscape, what seems certain is that it will be different in some respects. “The notion of putting 7,000 people in a building may be a thing of the past,” said Jes Staley of Barclays. “Maybe we don’t need all the offices that we currently have around the world,” mused Mondelez’s Dirk van de Put, while Sergio Ermotti said UBS was already thinking about moving out of expensive city-centre offices.
For employers downsizing, flexible self-storage space provides the flexibility to plan office space over the next 12 months. Our operations in Galway and Limerick have been working closely with offices reshaping and in preparation for the return to office staff over the coming months. Hot desks are proving to be a popular solution with excess furniture being stored short term in our units.
Our Free Move in van has been busy in recent weeks, working with employers reconfiguring their workspaces and as employees start moving back into the office, our storage box packs are proving extremely popular as documents, laptops and PCs start their migration back to their office spaces.
Make sure to contact one of our team to find out what offers we currently have and see how we can help you over the coming months as all our working lives change again. Contact our Galway office on 091 771 325 or our Limerick office on 061 577 700 or visit our website www.storage.ie
A final thought. According to Newsweek in their article “Employees Balk at End to Remote Work, Going Back to the Office Is Stupid”, 83 percent of CEOs want employees to return in person but only 10 percent of employees want to come back full time. So, something must give!
