Storage Tips
PLAN
-Take the smallest room you will need and pack the unit completely. Try out our size guide to see how little space you actually need.
-Check out our shop specials for great deals on a selection of boxes, bubble wrap and other packing materials to make your move easier on you and your wallet.
-Plan your storage space to work for you by placing the items that you may need to access often at the front of your room and the items you seldom need access to at the back.
PACK
-If possible try to use uniform size boxes for easy stacking.
-Compile an inventory of your items.
-Number your boxes on all four sides for inventory and seal with tape.
-Sofas with flat sides can be stored on end to save floor space.
-Wrap cushions in plastic and place on top of couches.
PROHIBITTED ITEMS
-Do not store anything COMBUSTIBLE such as paint thinners, fuel canisters, Oils, solvents, paint etc.
-Do not store any perishable items.
-Plants do not survive in storage
BE CAREFUL
-Stack heavier boxes on the bottom and lighter boxes on top.
-Be careful not to overfill boxes.
-Dishes and glasses should be wrapped in paper and packed in sturdy boxes. Stack them on top.
-Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in cardboard and marked “FRAGILE” and stacked on end.
-Once in Storage furniture with drawers or wardrobes can be filled with pictures, knick-knacks, china, silverware, smaller items etc. Wrap these items in tablecloths, towels or blankets to prevent breakage.
-Wrap breakable items with bubble wrap or newspaper to help protect them
-Larger appliances such as refrigerators and stoves should be thoroughly cleaned and the doors left slightly ajar.
-Washing Machines/Dishwashers/Freezers all need to be properly cleaned out and drained prior to coming into storage.
-Avoid placing sharp or heavy objects on top of upholstered furniture.
